The Right Times to Check your Credit Report

A lot of us only check our credit reports once a year. We wait for one full year before we request for a copy of our free credit reports. This way we need not worry about the payments and charges for having multiple copies of our credit files.

For others, they only check their reports when they need to seek credit lines. They only bother to review their credit records so that they can negotiate lower rates and higher credit limit on personal loans and credit card programs.

But when should we really check our credit reports? How often should we request for our credit records? This article will provide four specific times when you should request for your records from any of the three credit report bureaus.

Four Times When You Need to Check Credit Records
  1. You are preparing for a major credit based purchase.
  2. Your application for a loan has been denied.
  3. You suspect that your identity has been stolen.
  4. You want to repair bad credit.
